Successful Routines
Elon Musk
Elon Musk is a South African business magnate and an angel investor. He is the CEO of Tesla, CEO of SpaceX, owner, and CTO of Twitter, founder of the Boring Company, and founder of Neuralink and OpenAI. As well as this he is a father of 6 kids. With all of this responsibility, he needs to be extremely productive and selective about what he uses his time for. Therefore I’m going to share his routine below and give my opinion. It is all below:
He wakes up at 7 am every morning
As soon as he wakes up he showers
He skips breakfast and drives his kids to school
He usually spends most of his time designing and building his electric cars and rockets due to the fact that he specializes in physics
However, he has daily meetings but if he finds it irrelevant he cuts it short
He likes to save time so he eats lunch during meetings
He returns from work at 10 pm
For the next 3 hours, he winds down by watching anime and reading books and comics
Pros
There are many advantages to this lifestyle:
This maximizes productivity while having time to wind down and have time for his hobbies
It allows him to spend time with family
Centers his day around his work which can help you see your priorities
Cons
There are many disadvantages to this lifestyle:
He only gets 6 hours of sleep every night which is an extremely bad habit as an adult is recommended to sleep between 7-9 hours per night
Final Thoughts
I think this is a very productive lifestyle however the only factor that makes me feel like this is not healthy is due to the fact you don’t get enough sleep which is the pinnacle of energy which can be arguably counter-productive. Therefore I wouldn’t recommend this lifestyle for the normal person or in fact businessmen.
Mike Tyson
Mike Tyson is a former American professional boxer who competed between 1985 and 2005. During his career he was nicknamed "Iron Mike", "Kid Dynamite" and later in his career "The Baddest Man on the Planet". With this status, he must be extremely strong and physically and mentally tough to be regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time. Here is the routine he had during his prime:
He wakes up every day at 4.00 am in order to get a psychological edge over his opponents
After waking up he would stretch, go for a 3-5 mile run and then walk for a few miles
After his morning cardio, he would have breakfast and rest up
At noon he would go for a sparring and skills training workout
During this workout, he would go ten to twelve rounds of sparring, bag work like using a speed bag and slip bag, and finally would end it with calisthenics
After his workout, he would go for a high-protein lunch
At 3.00 pm he would go for a boxing skills training workout which is similar to the previous training session he had but this time he adds jump rope for 20-30 minutes
After rest, he would have a calisthenics session at 5.00 pm where he would do 2,000 air squats, 2,500 sit-ups, 500 push-ups, 500 bench dips, 500 neck curls, 500 barbell shrugs, and ten minutes of wrestler bridges
After dinner, he would end his day with light cardio at 9.00 pm, he would do 30-60 minutes of exercise bike and occasionally use a hot tub before he went to sleep
Pros
There are many advantages to this lifestyle such as the one's below:
It is an extremely effective routine including his high-protein diet due to the fact that it centers around his improvement as a boxer as well as repetition
It doesn't leave much time for other affairs such as with loved ones
Can help improve lung capacity and stamina
Cons
There are multiple disadvantages to living this lifestyle, such as the ones below:
It is extremely hard to maintain this lifestyle due to the physical intensity
It is centered around sports so in the case of a person who does most of their work mentally would be unlikely
Doesn't optimize the mental capacity to think or achieve the flow state
Final Thoughts
With the lifestyle of the great Mike Tyson, you need to be able to endure the pain as well as persist through the boredom of doing the same thing every day. However, if you get through it, you will be a part of the top 5% who have achieved greatness in their life. With this lifestyle, nobody will be able to stop you. However, as a student, this wouldn't be a very good lifestyle as it would not be compatible with a school timetable. However, if you're an athlete who doesn't go to school then I would recommend this lifestyle.
